Great Wilderness is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the delivery of youth education and development programs and fosters public enjoyment and conservation of wilderness.

Our Program

Pack 202 is an inclusive K–5 program with a nearly even mix of girls and boys from communities across central Contra Costa County. We meet every other Monday and enjoy monthly campouts, hikes, beach trips, outdoor learning, and science activities. The whole family is welcome.

Troop 808 is looking for young women and men in grades 6th – 12th interested in outdoor adventures. We strive to have an inclusive environment where scouts enjoy the outdoors while practicing leadership skills. We meet on most Mondays and hold one or two weekend outings each month.

Crew 404 welcomes young men and women ages 14 through 20, or those who have completed eighth grade. Venturing offers youth-led adventure, leadership, service, and opportunities to explore the outdoors together.
